iFocus opened its Brisbane office in August, bringing forward its plans to expand into Queensland by the end of 2003. After being selected as the Strategic Internet Partner for QR (Queensland Rail), it was clear the time to establish a formal presence in Brisbane had arrived.
The move began several months ago when Ron Hawkins, National HR Manager and Senior Consultant (Content and Training) moved north from the Melbourne office to support and manage operational requirements in Brisbane.
The team has quickly expanded to include three new employees highly skilled in business communications, eBusiness system architecture and integration, and project management.
Cathie Wilson, Writer and Documentation Consultant, has worked for Andersen Consulting, Queensland University of Technology, John Holland Construction and Brisbane City Council. Currently, she is the Content Manager for a new website in development at QR.
Andrew Stevens, Senior Consultant (IT & eBusiness Architecture) has specialised in Internet technology for nine years. Past roles have taken him to Lonely Planet, www.Footytips, The Swish Group, WSA Online, Golden Circle and the University of Queensland.
"Brisbane has been starved of good talent," he says. "iFocus brings a lot of experience and ingenuity to Brisbane." He points out that our partner model enables iFocus to draw the best talent from around the country.
Mark Nicklin, Senior Consultant/Project Manager, comes to us after successful projects with Brisbane Water, Sensis (Yellowpages & Whitepages), Black Diamond Technologies and Esanda Finance.
Of his decision to join the company he says, "iFocus is very flexible; very dynamic and innovative." The size of the company means that, "you can be more than just a body…you can move it to another level."
He will certainly have an opportunity to do just that. Mark's role is to assist in the growth and development of iFocus in this region. iFocus sees its expansion into the Queensland market as a strategic move and has made a significant commitment to its success.
"Our expectations are high and we look forward to working with Queensland government and commercial clients," says Greg Muller, Managing Director of iFocus.
The groundwork for a relationship with Queensland government was laid in February of this year, when iFocus was appointed to the Queensland Information Technology Contract (GITC) endorsed supplier list.
iFocus will be targeting both government contracts and corporate business and will be seeking partnerships with local development firms, integrators and service providers to complement our skills and client requirements.
Greg Muller looks forward to the challenge ahead, "The first 12 months will be a period of stabilisation and consolidation. Our focus will be on the successful delivery of current projects and through the period we will work to establish a base from which the company can expand."
