iFocus - Online Possibilities
Release: iFocus wins prestigious international WebAward

Released: October 2002

iFocus has been honoured with a “Standard of Excellence” WebAward at the 2002 Web Marketing Association awards held in the United States. The award to be announced at Internet World in New York on October 1 was received for the Adult Multicultural Education Services (AMES) web site, www.ames.net.au, launched in Melbourne in August this year. The WebAward is the second award for the site this month, being also awarded ‘Site of the Month’ by Adult Learning Australia.

AMES is the largest provider in Australia of specialist English language, literacy, education and employment services to new Australian residents, their families, international students, businesses and the culturally and linguistically diverse community.

Greg Muller, iFocus Managing Director and AMES Project Manager said he was thrilled with the result; “Everyone in the team put in 110% and never wavered during this intensely challenging project. The close guidance provided by AMES and our partners eTranslate and Commercial Interactive Media helped us overcome the ever-present user, cultural and language barriers. This international recognition positions AMES and their site as a global leader, of which we are all very proud”.

The site offers visitors the choice to browse 12 different languages. Content is organised based on audience types, courses can be booked online, jobs registered, payments submitted and local AMES offices can be located quickly by post code entry.

Linda Fleet, AMES Marketing Manager, had this to say about the site; “The multilingual website is an overwhelming success. The look, navigation and functionality have been universally accepted by clients, stakeholders and staff alike. We are thrilled and iFocus was key to achieving this outcome”.

The US Web Marketing Association began the WebAwards competition in 1997, in an effort to recognise the people and companies who create today's top web sites. The Standard of Excellence WebAward recognises the standard of excellence for which all corporate Web sites should strive. Over 1,300 sites from around the world were entered into this year’s WebAward competition. Entries were judged on design, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, ease of use, and use of technology.
