iFocus is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Australian Web Accessibility Initiative (OZeWAI) conference, held annually in Melbourne every year.
The conference runs this year from the 7 – 9 December at La Trobe University in Bundoora, Victoria, Australia.
OZeWAI is Australia’s only pure accessibility conference and has been run annually since 2000.
Gian Sampson-Wild, our Senior Accessibility Specialist, has been on the Organising Committee for the last four years. Gian has always had a prominent role in the conference and so the iFocus sponsorship was a logical step.
This year OZeWAI focuses on adaptability – can we include everyone? Adaptability is about ensuring that everyone who wants to access digital content can do so if they have appropriate devices and telecommunications. Currently this is not the case - large Web pages rarely fit on small hand-held device screens, let alone phone screens, and some sites are not accessible to people with adaptive technologies because the resources are not well-formed.
A networked community is not a networked community unless everyone can participate.
iFocus will be presenting a number of expert sessions. More details will be made available closer to the conference.
